"Wolfsburg Hauptbahnhof" is a main train station in city Wolfsburg in Province "Niedersachsen". Train station is on main route between Hannover and Berlin.
First train station was opened in year 1928 in Wolfsburg Rothenfeld. The name Wolfsburg was changed in 1957.
First station building on this place was timbered and after short time began to fall apart. Construction was typical - waiting room (sometimes like dormitory for employees from Volkswagen factory) and storage places.
After second World War was train station rebuilt. City mayor Dr. Dahme sent a request to "Reichsbahndirektion Hannover" in 1947 that train station in Wolfsburg is like cottage in mountain village somewhere in Bavaria. Till year 1957 was a problem with right place for station. Factory urged start of new building becasue every day came more then 5780 people to Wolfsburg by train.
6. of March 1956 was the day when train station was starting rebuilding. 26. of August 1957 was train station finished and opened by Mr Seebohm (Federal Transport Minister).
