Built to honour the victims of Nazi liquidation action (6.8.1944) in revenge of the partisan revolt and the murder of 3 Gestapo members. 36 men from Životic and surrounding villages were shot.
After the Second World War, the body of the Zivotice tragedy victims were exhumed and transported to this palce and were buried in a tomb. In the September 25th 1949 was unveiled a monument at this place, designed by sculptor and painter Frank Swider from Karviná.
The memorial is also dedicated to all victims of occupation and also recalls the history of resistance in Teschen 1938-1945.

Památník životické tragédie byl vybudován k uctení obetí nacistické likvidacní akce, která probehla 6. 8. 1944. Behem této akce bylo jako odplata za partyzánskou akci a zabití 3 príslušníku gestapa zastreleno 36 mužu ze Životic a okolních obcí.
Po skoncení druhé svetové války byla tela obetí životické tragédie exhumována a dne 24. cervna 1945 prevezena do Životic, kde byla pohrbena do spolecné hrobky. Dne 25. 9. 1949 byl na tomto míste slavnostne odhalen památník, jehož autorem byl akademický sochar a malír František Šwider z Karviné.
Památník je zároven venován všem obetem okupace a pripomíná také historii odboje Tešínska v letech 1938-1945.
