This historic district is quite large, covering 1600 acres and including 421 buildings. The centerpiece of the district buildings is the Old Faithful Inn, a massive, seven-story log edifice with one of the most unusual lobbies/atriums of any hotel in the country.
A very large percentage of the 421 buildings are one to four room cabins, located to the south behind the newer (non-contributing) Snow Lodge and to the northeast, behind the Old Faithful Lodge.
The principal buildings in the district are the Old Faithful Inn, the Old Faithful Lodge, three stores, two filling stations, the power plant, five dormitories, and ten support buildings.
