Jan Nepomucký pochází z Pomuku, obce 30km jižne od Plzne. Narodil se mezi lety 1340 - 1350. Zemrel mucednickou smrtí v Praze roku 1393, kdy odmítl vyzradit zpovední tajemství a byl mucen a poté utopen ve Vltave.

Bývá zobrazován jako duchovní knez, nad hlavou má svatozár, doplnenou o 5 hvezd. V ruce drží kríž a palmový list.
