This Park Dedicated in the Memory of Chris Hotts
January 14, 1963 - June 9, 1997

This children's park is dedicated to Chris Hotts, a young woman who loved children, and worked to make their future brighter. This park will stand as a living Memorial to Chris whose unmistakable laughter will be long remembered through the laughter of the children who play here.

In 1995, after earning Teacher of the Year honors, Chris left teaching and counseling at Santee and Trace Elementary Schools to work for San Jose City Councilmember Patricia Dando. As a counsil assistant, she coordinated numerous community volunteer projects, worked to improve child care, and to increase services for battered women and children.

Without the hard work of Chris and the Almaden Community Association, the generous financial support of South Hills Community Church, and the City of San Jose Parks, Recreation, & Neighborhood Services, this park would not have been possible.
