Der Lusen (tschechisch Luzný) gehört mit seiner Höhe von 1373 Metern nach dem Rachel und dem Arber zu den höheren Bergen im Bayerischen Wald. Er liegt wie auch der Rachel und der Große Falkenstein im Nationalpark Bayerischer Wald dicht an der Grenze zu Tschechien. In der Umgebung liegen die Ortschaften Waldhäuser, Hohenau, Mauth und Finsterau sowie Modrava auf tschechischer Seite; von allen führen Wanderwege zum Gipfel. - Quelle: wikipedia.de

Lusen (Czech: Luzný) is a mountain in Bavaria (Germany) and in the Plzen Region (Czech Republic). Its peak is less than 1,000 feet (300 m) south of the Czech Republic–Germany border. Streams forming on the north side become tributaries of the Vydra.
The Lusen is popular for hiking in summer and winter. There is a winter trial which is usually cleared of snow. However the bohemean wind might blow rather strongly and covers everything in ice as you can see in this panorama shot of the summit.
The winter trial is also ideal for sledging.

Luzný (nemecky: Lusen) je hora, která se nachází v centrální cásti nemecké strany Šumavy (Bavorského lesa) v tesné blízkosti hranic s Ceskou republikou. Merí 1 373 metru a mezi šumavskými horami vyniká nejvetším kamenným morem, které pokrývá její vrchol. Luzný se nachází na území Národního parku Bavorský les.
Na severozápadním svahu pramení Luzný potok, který se po nekolika kilometrech stéká s Breznickým potokem a vytvárí Modravský potok. Ten poblíž Modravy pribírá Roklanský a Filipohutský potok a vytvárí reku Vydru.
