Fulton County is the westernmost county of Kentucky. It was formed in 1845 out of the southwestern part of Hickman County , Kentucky. Its county seat is Hickman not Fulton City as many think (Hickman County seat is Clinton, not Fulton as many also think). The county is named for Robert Fulton. Pro-Confederate during the American Civil War, Fulton County saw raids by both sides during the conflict
It is located in the Jackson Purchase region of the state. The elevation in the county ranges from 260, the lowest in the state, to 500 feetabove sea level.
