Near the main entrance to New Plymouth's Pukekura Park is a miniature railway featuring scale model electric and steam trains offering rides to children every Sunday afternoon.

On the corner of Liardet and Gilbert Streets, near the main entrance to New Plymouth's Pukekura Park is a scale model, steam-train and railway operated by the New Plymouth Model Engineers' Society. For a gold coin donation the children can have a coal-fired steam-train or diesel-electric ride. The trains run from 2 – 4pm every Sunday in the evenings during the Summer Festival of Lights.
