This was the home of Joshua D. Frazier, one of the members of the Nicklesville Spartan Band, a group of local citizens that answered the call to protect their homeland from the Northern invaders in the service of the Confederate States of America.

After the War between the States was over this is where Joshua D. Fraizer returned to in Scott County, Virginia and made his home. Located above the old site of Hale's Mill on Copper Creek. This was once a small community named after Drayton S. Hale who operated a Saw Mill and a Grain Mill here. The community had it's own Post Office, but it was moved to Nicklesville in 1916. Joshua was one of the original group of 76 men from Scott County, Virginia that called themselves the Nickelsville Spartan Band. They marched from Nickelsville, Virginia to Abington, Virginia on July 13th 1861 where they were enlisted into the Army of Virginia Volunteers the same day, and became Company H of the 48th Regiment Virginia Volunteers. Company H became part of General Stonewall Jackson's army and later Company E of the Virginia 48th Regiment. He was the only one of the orginal 76 men that answered the muster call at Appomattox Court House on April 19, 1865 when General Lee surrendered. All of the other members were killed or wounded in battles and no longer in the service of the Confederate Army. Members of the Nickelsville Spartan Band took part in every major battle in Virginia.
