OAk Alley is located on the west bank of the Mississippi river, about half way between New Orleans and Baton Rouge. Very picturesque. The plantation is open for tours, however there was a special function ongoing at this visit. Any planned visit to the plantation I would recommend a call or take a plantation tour trip. Built between 1836 -1839. Unknown architect, the home was built by Jacques T. Roman, who was the brother of the 9th and 11th Governor of Louisiana André Bienvenu Roman.
The 28 Oak trees are believed to be 100 years OLDER than the plantation home. Most of above historical information came from both the Louisiana Historical marker located in front of home, and from
