EN: The place where the 11th 1/Lt died in April 1945 by Robert W. Whitehead in the ruins of his airplane P-38 Lightning.

1/Lt Whitehead, a member of the 37th 14th Squadron 15th Fighter Group Air Force, he and his colleagues this morning credited to the account of a number of retired locomotives operating in southern Bohemia. He was shot down in battle with two German Fw 190 (their affiliation to a particular unit is not yet confirmed, speculation on the battleship squadron of SG 10), which returned to the airport in the Czech Budejovice Plana (again presumably) from events in Moravia and Austria.

Chronicle village Srubec literally states: ”Soon after their arrival (the German soldiers - ed. PV) played over Srubec April 11, 1945 dogfight, in which U.S. aircraft were shot down, driven by 19 year old Canadian pilot Bobby Veith. The plane hit the field, Mr. Šulista and full restitution. Promising young boy-hero gave his life away from their homeland. “
