Between 1806 & 1827 the 3rd Earl of Pomfret built eight new cottages around the Hulcote village green. He built the school in 1816 to teach the local poor children from this village and Easton Neston. It had a capacity to teach up to 35 children and was attended by an average of 23. During the war numbers dropped and in March 1916, when it had only eight pupils, the L.E.A. closed the school as an economy measure.
