This sign is located in the Interstate 80 rest area at exit 41 just north of Lyman, Wyoming. It provides general information about elk, mule deer, and pronghorns. Unfortunately, like many people, it calls the pronghorns antelope, which they are not. Pronghorns are a totally separate species and are the only surviving member of the family Antilocapridae. It emphasizes the vastness of the western high plains and how little they have changed since the days of the pioneers who crossed this vast area on their migration west.
There are many of these Wyoming Wildlife signs throughout the state, each emphasizing the local fauna of the area of each sign.
