Throughout the month of December, Brookfield Zoo has hundreds of community Christmas trees decorated along the main avenues and around the Roosevelt Fountain. Area families, businesses, schools, and scouts decorate a tree that symbolizes their unique qualities.
The animal statues in and around the zoo are also decorated with wreaths and garland. You can have your picture taken in a sleigh pull by similarly decorated polar bear statues.
On weekend evenings after the indoor exhibits are closed, the light displays of animated animals from raccoons to ostriches to alligators light up the night for extra fun. Performances and entertainment are provided around the zoo. Even caroling to animals in the outdoor exhibits is scheduled.
