This tree ring is from a Redwood (Sequoia Sempervirens) that is estimated to be 900 years old. The display has many brass labels indicating when historic events occured with an arrow pointing to the age ring associated with that event. Events labeled include The Declaration of independence, first Crusades and Coronado explores southwest. There is also and educational display concerning tree rings and their meaning.
