There are several war memorials located here. In fact, all major conflicts including the Civil War to the present are represented. Each memorial is composed of a series of bronze panels attached to the front of this former courthouse. These markers are the first to be displayed as they are in front of the steps and easily discernible from the Lincoln Highway. They are arranged side by side, separated only by the steps.

The top of the first panels reads In Memory of York County Patriots Who Gave Their Lives in the War for World Peace, 1917 - 1921. The bottom of the fourth panel reads Memory Here Guards Ennobled Names, Erected 1926. Between the two panels are lists of names, in two columns, who served during the ear.

The court house is an example of Classic Revival architecture, has three floors, composed of brick and was constructed in 1898. The court house is also a contributing structure to the York Historic District.
