Harold Mason was a Corporal killed in World War 1. He was the son of Eli and Minnie Mason. He enlisted on February 22, 1918 and was killed in action on July 21, 1918, at the Aisne-Marne offensive in France.
The Post met in the old Germania hall for many years but when it was torn down, the membership met in various other places. It acquired its own building on West 9th Street in 1939. In 1942, a larger building was purchased.
In 1945, the Sioux Valley Post #253 merged with the Harold Mason post and changed the name to Sioux Falls Post 15.
The current post home was built in the 1970s and houses a lounge, a ball room, and several small meeting rooms.
This post is the largest in South Dakota with a 2011 membership goal of 1658.
The 2010-2011 Department Commander, Hoot Gibson, is from this post.
