This is one of the more prominentfreestanding arches on the property of Laguna Gloria. It is on the southeast corner of the mansion and formally begins a walking path that will eventually lead to the waters edge of the lagoon that is the reason the place is named Laguna Gloria. A similar freestanding arch with a bell attached at its top is located at the northeast corner of the house, and the entrances into the sunken rose garden has entrance archways covered with climbing roses. Laguna Gloria is currently owned and operated by what is now the Austin Museum of Art. Throughout most of the 1900s, Laguna Gloria was the home of Henry and Clara Sevier. Henry has been the US Ambassador to Chile during the presidency of FDR in the 1940s. Clara Sevier is famously known as Clara Driscoll, the "Savior of the Alamo" for her herculian effort to preserve and restore the Alamo mission in San Antonio. She was also active in politics, being the National Decomcratic Party president for 12 years, and in banking, being the president of several banks between Corpus Christi and Victoria, TX. In her will, she donated the property of Laguna Gloria to what is now Austin Museum of Art for the use of preserving and displaying fine art in Texas.
