Thornham used to be an important harbour along this coastline, hence the boat on the sign it also shows the church and a blacksmith in the ironworks at work.
The ironworks was set up by a Lady of the Manor Mrs Ames Lyde at the end of the 19th century.
the works became famous after completing works for the Prince of Wales at nearby Sandringham. sadly the Great War meant tht all the work force left. Mrs Ames died and the factory closed in 1920.
The reverse side shows the former harbour where grain after being ground at the mill was exported.
The coal barge shown is the Jessie Mary the last barge to deliver coal
along the top is All Saints Church.
