The town of Tribbey is named for Alpheus M. Tribbey who settled in this part of Indian Territory in 1888 and staked a claim during the Land Run of 1891. He donated land to the railroad and donated 22 acres for the building of the town.

Tribbey Cemetery is located about one mile south of the town. It is a well kept and maintained cemetery with about 333 burials. There is a very nice war memorial in the cemetery honoring the local men who served in the military.
