Laguna Gloria is the former estate of Henry and Clara Sevier and is reputed to have also been property owned by Steven F Austin. Mrs. Clara Sevier is better known as Clara Driscoll, the "Savior of the Alamo" and as a banker, land manager, politician and philanthropist to the fine arts. This estate at Laguna Gloria was her home for much of her life and certainly befits her high society life. The landscaped gardens surrounding the main mansion still contains the statuary and this freestanding arch with a bell that has been on the property at least since being mentioned in the American Guide Series for Texas in 1940. The bell is mounted in the arch of a freestanding archway leading from the front side-yard of the house into other wooded areas of the property. This is one of several freestanding arches located throughout the estate. The property is currently owned by the Austin Museum of Art, having been willed to them by Clara Driscoll Sevier.
