The Pirogue is a flat bottom boat, similar to the canoe. They are usually small and easy to take across land. Paddled or pushed with a pole, they were perfect for the swamps of Louisiana and are still used today. This one is a dugout type, and is a display piece located on the museum grounds, close to the carpenter shop display.
