This Trompe L'oeil painting by
John Pugh is a small artwork at Casa Grande in New Almaden, California. It is located on the bottom floor on the inside wall of the NE side of Casa Grande.
The Casa Grande was originally constructed of brick and adobe. The outside brick walls of the Casa Grande has been covered over for protection, but the original brick can still be seen on inside walls, particularly in the bottom floor. Today this historical building houses the Quicksilver Mining Museum.
On one of the inside brick walls is this john Pugh painting, approximately 3 feet square, that looks like a miner is peering out from a hole in the wall where some bricks are missing. The painting is dated 1985.
