Trat, in south eastern Thailand, is a small city, and capital of the province of the same name. It has a new and large bus station to the north of the city.
Trat lies on the route between Pattaya and Bangkok, the major southern Thai/Cambodian border crossing of , as well as the Thai tourist destination of Koh Chang (Elephant Island). The town itself, while pleasant, has few tourist attractions. Thus the town tends to be bypassed by travellers.
