This arboretum is located at the San Diego Wild Animal Park in Escondido, CA.

Known mostly for it's wide variety of animal species, the San Diego Wild Animal Park also has many gardens and this arboretum. The arboretum has over 1,000 trees representing 400 conifer species on over 25 acres of land. It is set along man-made streams and attractive trails. Relatively few visitors actually come to this part of the park since it is in the opposite direction to the animal exhibits.
The arboretum also has a rare Dawn Redwood...a sequoia tree from China believed extinct until 1948. See WMA5AQ
Curiously, the Park's website doesn't contain information about the arboretum, but this 1/22/06 article from the San Diego Union Tribune tells us about one of the key men who helped develop the site. (
