The park features numerous trails, which pass three-story tall caves, beaches, scenic overlooks and side trails which go over the top of the hill. It is an excellent hike for bird watching. Birds commonly sighted on the lake are osprey, common merganser and pied-billed grebe in the summer and bald eagles, hooded mergansers and horned, eared and Western grebes in the winter.
