Many people don't realize that Italian and German Prisoners of War were held at Camp Adair. After our soldiers finished training there, part of the camp was used as a P.O.W. camp. I haven't yet found definate information as the the exact location, but it would seem likely that they used the stockade. This is where the stockade was located. The picture shows what is left of the stockade mess hall. The depressed area of the blackberry vines is where the concrete floor of the mess hall is. As you can see, nature has healed the wounds of war. John Baker's book "Camp Adair", has some stories about the people who were connected to the prisoners. There is even one story from one of the former prisoners.
