The building at 225 E. Main in downtown Shawnee is widely purported to be haunted. The Bison Theater operated here from the early days of the 20th Century until the mid 1950s.

In August 2007, the Contact Research Investigation Specialists group conducted an investigation here to attempt to verify the reported stories.

History records that in 1930, there was a murder outside the theater when an actor dressed as a robber was mistaken for the real thing, and was shot by the sheriff. Employees of the Antique Mall currently occupying the building report that they have seen apparitiions and heard footsteps coming up the stairs from the basement. The CRIS investigation did discover anomalies in the photos, video and audio they recorded at the location.

Access to some areas of the building may be prohibited. Check with Mall employees.
