According to a dated stone in the structure's gable, this building was constructed in 1887 as School District No. 5. It even has a bell tower that would have been used to let students know when school was ready to start.
I don't actually have any evidence that this former school only had one school room, but judging by its size, the fact that there's only one chimney, and the size of the community (then and now), I believe it is highly probable that this was a one-room schoolhouse.
