Dedicated to all those who served
The monument sits on top of the bush clad Mount Parihaka which dominates the Whangarei landscape. Mount Parahaki towers 241 metres above the city and was once the site of New Zealand's largest Maori pa. The panoramic vista from the lookout shows the city below and how the tentacles of the harbour reach into the countryside shaped by the ancient volcanic cones and lava flows.
