Boonton's Iron Works were established in the mid 1700's and ran, more or less, to the early 1900's when a fire burned them to the ground. All that is left on the site are four arches from the foundations and big piles of slag and clinker.

The easiest way to reach this slightly out of the way site is to start at Grace Lord Park, to the north, and follow the trail south past the famous Boonton Falls, down to where the Iron Works once stood.

First active in the 1700's and given a second wind in the 1800's by the arrival of the Morris Canal which facilitated trade, the Works were in decline when the fire destroyed them in the early 1900's.

Explore the area to see the piles of masonry, slag and clinker left by the disaster, and make sure to see the four remaining arched vaults from the foundations.
