Located a little north of Lincoln Park's prominent fountain, this Memorial depicts a firfighter atop a pedestal holding a child. Under the pedestal is a short stone column with the following engraved text:

"FARRIER MEMORIAL
TO THE
VOLUNTEER FIREMEN
OF
JERSEY CITY
ERECTED THROUGH THE
BEQUEST OF
CAPT. FREDERICK T. FARRIER
AS A TOKEN OF THE FRIENDSHIP
AND ESTEEM IN WHICH HE HELD
HIS FORMER ASSOCIATES IN THE
VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT

EDWIN M. FARRIER
EXECUTOR
1931"

Each side of the upper pedestal has one word engraved on it: "VALOR", "READINESS", "COURAGE" AND "DEVOTION"

A brief New York Times story (visit link) reveals that Captain Farrier was the Chief of the Fire Department and was unfortunately killed instantly when a locomotive crashed into a firetruck.
