In 2003 the Munich Olympic Walk Of Stars was constructed as a path from the Olympic Sea, als Weg am Olympiasee, in the style of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The famous leave their hand- and footprints behind in the concrete. Howard Carpendale was the first to be memorialized here, and since then roughly 30 personalities from culture and sport have left impressions of themselves behind.

Seit 2003 werden Stars und Persönlichkeiten am 400 m langen Munich Olympic Walk of Stars, der als Weg am Fuß des Olympiaturms angelegt ist, verewigt. Ähnlich wie beim Grauman’s Chinese Theatre am Walk of Fame in Los Angeles machen die Stars dabei Abdrücke in den frischen Zement der 90×90 cm großen Platten, die dann mit Speziallack gegen Witterungsschäden und Verunreinigungen gesichert werden[3].
Die Grundidee dazu hatte der Regisseur und Filmproduzent Alexander Ganser. Ein Gremium wählt seitdem aus, wer für eine Verewigung in Frage kommt oder nicht. Verewigt wird, wer Erfolge im Olympiapark gefeiert hat oder sich um den Olympiapark verdient gemacht hat. Am 21. Mai 2003 wurde der MOWOS feierlich mit der Verewigung von Howard Carpendale eröffnet. Seitdem haben sich „Legenden“ wie Tom Jones, der Dalai Lama, Bon Jovi, Metallica, Genesis, Liza Minnelli, Elton John, Die Toten Hosen, B.B. King, Aerosmith, Kiss, R.E.M. und viele andere verewig.
