The memorial is to the fallen of WW1 with a small bronze panel fitted to a horizontal beam, above head height,to the fallen of WW2. The WW1 inscription is carved in the wooden gable end and reads as follows.
"TO THE GLORY OF GOD & IN MEMORY OF THE WORTLEY MEN WHO GAVE THEIR THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918"
There a two bronze panels, inside the gate, one on either side, listing the the names of the WW1 fallen.
