The tower is a memorial to one of the Chautauqua Institute founders, Lewis Miller. It rises 69 feet on deep piling. The brick construction is Italianate and holds 14 McWeely bells. The tower was erected in 1911. Four additional bells and a new console were added in 1967. It presently plays the Westminster Chimes in the traditional manner. One line added every 15 minutes, plus the number of the hour on the hour.
