****************
On Labor Day, 1979, two F-106 jets were performing a flyover demonstration in Dillon, from Great Falls Air National Guard Air Base when Captain Rude's plane crashed into a grain elevator, about 100 feet off the ground, as thousands of parade-goers watched. The jet plane exploded, debris fell on the crowd, 2 giant fireballs demolished the grain elevator and the plane. Rude was killed but there were no other injuries.
