UPDATE: January 2021. Ann's Chicken Fry has closed after nearly 50 years, due to the downturn from Covid-19. All the 1950's decor and displays have been removed. We will update as time goes by to see what business opens at this location.
Ann's Chicken Fry House has been operating at 4106 N.W. 39th Street in west Oklahoma City since 1971. The building was once a Cities Service station dating back to 1948.
This restaurant has a 1950s decor, with numerous artifacts from that era, and lots of nostalgia. It is famous for its Chicken Fried Steak.
On the east and west walls of the building are colorful murals depicting life on Route 66 in its heyday. The east wall shows the restaurant, with three dated vehicles out front. The words on the building are "Always Fresh - Always Hot" and ads for Coca-Cola and Dr. Pepper. The mural on the west wall shows a large Route 66 highway marker, with Coca-Cola and Dr. Pepper ads.
