These inscribed pavers are unique in that the donors name is not inscribed, rather, the donor paid to have a fallen fighter's name inscribed on each brick who died in the 9/11 terror attack at the Twin Towers in NYC. The bricks completely surround the 1911 firefighter memorial and statue. The pavers are on the lawn of this former firehouse, to the right and out front near the Lincoln Highway.

The pavers were the idea of The York County Heritage Trust who also run the museum. The silver-looking metal plaque on the fire memorial reads Engraved Below are the Names of the New York City Firefighters Who Sacrificed Their Lives on September 11, 2001 So That Others May Live. There were 343 firefighters and paramedics killed, approximately the same number as engraved bricks at the memorial.
