This unusual concrete structure resembles the twin towers and has attracted tributes from those who happen upon it.

Judging from the other bits of material nearby, this structure was a part of a facade or sign at one time, but has deteriorated into two columns which resemble the twin towers in New York. About a year ago, we started seeing small gifts and mementos being laid at the base of the structure. These include a crystal plaque commemorating the 9/11 attack, an American flag (which is changed monthly), and a New York Yankees cap.
The structure is located in the northeast corner of Forsyth County, GA, on GA Highway 53 (Dawsonville Highway) approximately a half mile west of the Boling Bridge, which delineates the Hall/Forsyth Counties boundary, at Chestatee Heights Road. Once you turn off of Highway 53, the structure is on your left. There is a place to pull off at the utility junction just past the structure. Please feel free to visit and to leave a token.

There isn't a specific memorial plaque on this impromptu memorial other than the wording on the crystal 9/11 plaque left by a visitor. That plaque states, "9/11. We will not forget."
