The time capsule is located outside the city hall building. It's together with the original mural from the 1925 old city hall building.

The plaque reads: "City of South Gate. 50th Anniversary Time Capsule. Sealed January 20th 1973. Open January 20, 2023."

The whole time capsule and mural is surrounded by an iron fence.
