Alexander Mackenzie , was born in Scotland, emigrated to Canada at the age of 20, worked as a stonemason and, in 1861, was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Canada and later, in 1867, became a member of the first House of Commons. Elected Liberal party leader in 1873 and served as Prime Minister from 1873 to 1878.
Alexander Mackenzie died in 1892 at the age of 70 and is buried in Lakeview cemetery in Sarnia, Ontario.
