Around this Tor are 13 boundary stones bearing the letter “B” on their faces, showing that this area once formed part of the Duke of Bedford’s estate. The reason was to protect Roos Tor from predatory granite workers that were very active in this area around 1880.

Roos Tor is a tor on North Dartmoor near the village of Peter Tavy, the tor is on the edge of the Merrivale Military Firing Range and has a flag pole on its summit, access is allowed at all times to the tor, walkers must not cross the range poles which are well to the north of the tor, when the warning flag is flying.
