This new sign is a return to a more traditional depiction of an anchor. Until about three years ago, there was a short lived picture of the last man in a tug of war team.

The Anchor as a pub sign, clearly has some significance so far as the sea is concerned. Here we have three pubs that have (or had) sea connections within a small area. The Anchor may have been names by a seaman returning from a career at sea. However, more fancifully on my part, I would like to think that this may have been a recognised recruiting ground.

The other two pubs in this triumvirate are WM9YQP and WM9YQZ.
