This is one of many granite posts used to mark points on the boundary lines between towns in Massachusetts, in this case, the Town of Essex and the Town of Hamilton. The letters "E" (for Essex) and "H" (for Hamilton) are inscribed on opposite sides. It is approximately six inches square and four feet high.

The marker is located on the east side of Chebacco Lake. Take Pond Street south off Route 22, and then turn right onto Wood Drive. The marker is on the west side of the road near the end of the pavement.

The next adjacent marker heading northwest is Essex-Hamilton 7, 0.1 mile.
The next adjacent marker heading southeast is Essex-Hamilton 8, 0.5 mile.
