This is one of many granite posts used to mark points on the boundary lines between towns in Massachusetts, in this case, the Town of Hamilton and the Town of Wenham. The letter "H" (for Hamilton) is painted on one side, and "W" (for Wenham) on the opposite side. It is approximately ten inches square and three feet high.
The marker is located near the north end of Hemlock Island in the Great Wenham Swamp. To get there, walk WNW from Pleasant Street, starting just SW of the intersection with Longfellow Road. Quickly reaching Hemlock Island, follow it and your GPS north to the marker. NOTE: The initial portion of this route is across
private property. Please ask permission before proceeding.
