The sign is divided by the name into an upper panel and three smaller lower panels. The panels show scenes local to Chapmore End, in particular the village pub, the village pond and scenes of local agriculture.

The sign is situated on a triangle of grass at a road junction, opposite the village pond. The sign was designed by local resident Joy Norris. Unveiling of the sign took place on 28th September 2008, photographs of which can be seen on the community website. There is a small plaque on the post that reads
