Lorne Beach has a wide range of facilities including:
Cafes
Sand swimming beach in a non-boating area
Public toilets
Picnic facilities
Playgrounds
Restaurant

The area can easily be accessed by car approx 1 and 1/2 hours from Melbourne.

The best time for swimming I find is an early hot summer morning.

The surf can be very good depending on the wind direction. It is also home the the largest ocean swim in Australia. The Lorne Pier to Pub.
