The suspension bridge over Loss Creek on the Juan de Fuca Marine Trail is an interesting feature on this section of this great marine trail along the rugged west coast of Vancouver Island.

The Juan de Fuca Marine Trail is Canada's other great west coast trail. This trail south of Port Renfrew is just as difficult and scenic as the more famous "West Coast Trail" north of Port Renfrew. The difference is this trail has escape routes that allow day hikes and less commitment when backpacking. One great section is Sambrio Beach to Chin Beach, acessible as a day hike by an unmarked side trail at km 25 from China Beach on HW 14 before Sambrio. This allows day hikers to get to Chin Beach and enjoy the Loss Creek suspension bridge. Loss Creek follows a major cleft in the coast, the Leech Fault before the San Juan ridge. This fault line goes right throgh the lower section of Vancouver Island. The suspension bridge built to facilitate hikers progress is significant, over 100 feet long, at least 100 ft above the Loss Creek cleft.
We hiked down from HW 14 on the km 25 side trail, crossed the bridge, went along to Chin Beach, then back over the bridge and down to the Sea Lion Caves before returning on the side trail.
