Normally the concept of solar power in western Oregon is a joke nine months of the year. But the tiny hamlet of Gates, located in the Cascade mountains, has a photovoltaic cell to power the light over the town's bus shelter. The one person I could find who knew anything about it said that the setup was funded by credits from the local power company, but did not know anything more than that.
