The unusual structure of the Ebbw Vale clock is designed as an integral part of Ebbw Vales history and culture. Based on the arc of a horses neck (Ebbw Vale translates from the welsh for Valley of the Wild Horse) the main T form structure is made from Stainless Steel. The Steel works closed in Ebbw Vale leaving most of the inhabitants of the town without hope or jobs. The words of local people are enscribed in the stone seat surrounding the base of the clock and travel up its main spine to the clock faces at the top.

The Towns re-generation as a mecca for walkers and cyclists has meant a new beginning and the clock serves as both a monument to the towns history and a symbol of hope for the future.
